Planning Stage

After the success we had as a group with mixed reality, We as a class decided to go down the route of A.I. and Data Visualisation with mixed results. Looking back we probably should have gone a definitely topic because I think we as a group ran out of steam. I’m putting this up to see what we did right but also where we went wrong so others can learn from our mistakes.

One of the good things that we had trying to do this project was that we had a person from Microsoft come in & speak to us about how what type of stuff they do using Data visualisation. The name of the guy who came to speak to us was Mark Kelly & he showed a link on the Microsoft website where they have a bundle of stuff which they use data visualisation for on of which can be seen in the

photo to the left hand-side. This particular thing that Microsoft developed was probably my favourite thing that Mark showed us this is because you take two pictures of two different people, say yourself & a friend & it tries to use the data picked up by the photo and gives you some info about it. it the photo you can see that i did it with myself & it ended you being 89% sure that both photo were the same person & not just a person who looked very similar to me. Overall the talk with Mark from Microsoft so pretty positive as we did learn a bit about more Data Visualisation for our project.

Before & After the Microsoft talk with Mark Kelly. We tried to do

some research as to how we can go about are goal which was to each gather a photograph & do multiple different edit’s of the original one. We did this with the goal of gather a bunch of phases & words that we could try & create a code where if any of those phases was sad around the photo it would to the word/phase associated with that photo. To the right is a photo of one of the the website we tried to use to code this whole idea together, while below is so of the photo’s that i would have used had the project got off the ground.

Overall I think that the idea was good for example i enjoyed creating all the different edit’s of the photograph’s, the Microsoft talk was good but the project fell apart in the coding part as we struggled to find a way to create it and eventually we ran of steam & enthusiasm for the project which looking back now is a bit of a same but that is what is going to happen sometimes when you are doing projects you just have to learn from your own mistakes & try not to do them again on future projects.
